This is an OPEN CALL to all members of the Society for Photographic Education (SPE) and affiliates and alumni of the New York Foundation for the Arts MARK program.

bookMARKs is an exhibition of self-published photo-based printed matter by SPE and NYFA MARK artists. The exhibition will be in early November 2011 at Syracuse University, held in conjunction with the Society for Photographic Education's Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions' 2011 Conference, hosted by Light Work and Syracuse University. The focus of this year's Conference is photography and publishing and it will include the participation of Darius Himes, Mary Virginia Swanson, Doug Dubois and Alec Soth, among many others.

All artists associated with SPE and NYFA MARK are strongly encouraged to participate in this exhibition. We are looking for photo-based and photo-related publication projects, including self-published books, booklets, zines, posters, chapbooks, pamphlets and any other imaginable way that artists publish. In fact, we are very interested in a variety of publishing strategies and experiments.

If your work involves photography in any way and you are interested in self-publishing and how publication transforms the presentation and perception of your work, then this exhibition is for you.
