Jon Lisbon Introduction

Jon Lisbon will be with us this Fall semester to teach our Business of Photography course. If you see him around the halls be sure to say hello and give him a welcome to the Point Park photography community!

Jon Lisbon is a commercial and fine art photographer based in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. With over 30 years of experience working in the photo industry he brings a comprehensive synthesis of technical, business, and creative skills to the classroom. This experience along with an active ten-year plus membership in the regional chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers and other national trade organizations, imparts his teaching with a practical real world sensibility. The commercial basis of Jon's business made him an early adopter and proponent of digital technology and workflow (2002) and he recently completed an MA in Digital Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design (2010).

ITCH open submissions

Infinite submissions welcomed

Intertwined arms, self-embracing, reaching across, beyond and back again. A race track for formula one Ferraris or electric toy cars? A number, defeated, exhausted, collapsed upon the floor? Everything is everything, what is meant to be will be? As seen from the heavens: two people kissing? Ying and yang, before they worked out the summarised symbol? Winding roads and hairpin bends? Universal time? The totality of space? A sophisticated chignon? Doubling back on the self, trying to rerun old scenes from a life already lived and passed? A looping riff from some gloomy old blues tune? All the numbers that could ever be counted? Things promised and then revoked? A pair of lips twisted into a snarl? A thousand clichéd tattoos? A doughnut; a diet? A waist cinched into a corset? Forever and ever, amen?

What does ∞ mean to you?

You are free to interpret this theme in any way that you wish, to speak to or against it, to explore or ignore it.

Submissions will be open until 31 July 2011. Contact the editor if you have any suggestions or questions.

Call For Entries: Win $100, and support School of Communication travel!

Attention Point Park University photo students:

Do you have any great shots of Pittsburgh in your personal archive?

We are looking for your best images to be the artwork in an upcoming fundraiser for the School of Communication travel fund (Ireland, Prague, Washington D.C.).

The winning images will be printed as note cards, and sold at upcoming department events.

Any entry containing less than 5 images will not be considered.

In addition to having their images appear on the note cards, and their name/photo credit on the back -- the winner will also receive a $100.00 honorarium for supplying the art for the fundraiser.

You can submit photos of anything you want, as long as it fits the "Pittsburgh" theme.

Deadline to submit your photos is August 15th. You can use photos that you already have from around town, or go out over the next month and take some new shots.

Please contact Andy Weier (aweier@pointpark.edu) with any questions, or to submit your entries.

Good luck!
